Seattle-based indie-rock band instant crush has released their striking new single “GRUDGE.”
The track serves as the lead single from their upcoming deluxe edition of their debut album I’M SORRY I DIDN’T BITE MY TONGUE. The expanded release arrives on March 13th and features six new tracks, including three new songs and three previously unreleased demos. Pre-order/pre-save for the album is available here.
“GRUDGE” is an addictive effort that explores lingering bitterness and resentment through electrifying guitar riffs, blistering vocals and cutthroat lyricism. Vocalist Megan Cannon shares,
“‘GRUDGE’ is a song I wrote about my frustration in the music industry. I feel like throughout my life I’ve done a lot of things out of spite (for better or for worse) and there is nothing I enjoy more than proving people wrong. At the very start of this band it seemed like people thought I was only capable of doing one thing or sounding one way, and those words really stuck with me for a long time and I felt a bitterness in my soul that would eat away at me.”
Instant crush easily delivers a heavy-hitting anthem for those who never seem to get over any situation ever. With a catchy and experimental execution, “GRUDGE” stands as a gutsy, venomous take on strength in light of animosity and hard feelings. Cannon adds,
“I thought I was genuinely an awful person for never letting anything go and holding resentment in my heart, but it was that trait that I think made me work harder. I wanted to make something gritty, different, and unlike something that would be expected from instant crush.”
instant crush will be performing at Treefort Music Festival in Boise, ID on March 25th before supporting Bike Routes in Portland, OR and Seattle, WA in early April. Tickets and information for all of the band’s upcoming dates can be found here.
