Michigan metal band Horizon Theory has recently released their latest single “Can’t Save Me”, a harrowing tale about losing trust in those you love the most, and the complexities behind the heartbreak. The band has also just embarked on a tour with Sevendust, as they gear up for their upcoming album Radio Silence.

“Can’t Save Me” hits hard from the very beginning; the gut-wrenching howls and melancholic vocals cut through with precision, as the aggressive riffs take over to convey an intense sense of anger and pain. The sound is very reminiscent of the early 2000s, even with a slight nod to nü metal’s distinctive vocals, yet it does not feel nostalgic or rehashed in any way. The melodies are cinematic and almost operatic at times, giving the sound a different level of sophistication that makes it fresh and exciting.

The track’s biggest strength is in its words: Horizon Theory does not hold back in any way, and “Can’t Save Me” quickly becomes strikingly raw. The unbearable feelings of disillusionment turn into blood-thirsty anger, as we navigate these intense emotions throughout the song. In a way, “Can’t Save Me” is both a statement of independence and a cry for help, once we face the reality of hurt and abandonment from someone we loved dearly. It is compelling, powerful and devastatingly relatable, as the listener will without a doubt find themselves deep in the story and the rage that comes with it.
