Hatchback kicks off ‘Mating’ with “Bye Bye Bye”

Date:

Portland, Maine-based artist Hatchback releases “Bye Bye Bye,” a stripped-down track that captures both the thrill and ache of letting go. Known for his genre-blurring style and blending indie pop guitar, trap percussion and glitchy electronic flourishes, Hatchback has previously collaborated with names like JPEGMAFIA, Alex Bent + the Emptiness, and William Maxwell. Now, with Mating officially out as of August 8, 2025, he’s stepping confidently into the spotlight as a solo act.

Sparse instrumentation creates a hypnotic atmosphere, while bedroom-pop textures soften the edges. As the opening track on Mating, “Bye Bye Bye” feels like an invitation into Hatchback’s twilight world, where pleasure and melancholy collide in equal measure.

Mating has a great dynamic range, with standouts including “Bye Bye Bye” and “Pity Party.” Each track feels like a different room in the same house that is connected by mood, yet distinct in its sonic palette.
