Harmless announces sophomore album with new single “future music”

Date:

Nacho Cano, the Mexican-born, LA-based multifaceted artist, is the mastermind behind Twin Cabins, Canito, and currently Harmless. Harmless is the dreamy indie-rock project from Cano, “translating the hopeless love he knows from Mexico.”

“future music” is the opening track to Harmless’ sophomore LP By Them By You By Me. This new album is described by Cano as a breakup album, one that sees him breaking up with his job, realizing his dream of becoming a career musician, and working through these changes. The main message of “future music” lies in Cano’s struggles of becoming a career artist, setting the tone for the album as a whole. He says,

“I felt that I was stuck because I felt I had no more upward mobility…The answer lies in the love I feel. As much as it pains me, I love doing this.”

Accompanied by fuzzy, dreamy production, Cano’s voice takes on a psychedelic crooning as he proclaims “I’m fucked / What do I have to do to get unstuck / When will I feel I’ve done enough…” A rich and tone-setting opener, the largely self-produced track contains universally relatable lyrics to match its accessibly grungy grooves.
