Halley Neal is a rising voice in folk and Americana. Her music draws inspiration from her core memories that impact her perspective as an artist today. Neal’s new release “Emily” is a heartwarming tribute to her childhood best friend. The lyrics string together vibrant moments from their youth in retrospect with Neal’s identity as an adult looking back on it.
“Emily” draws together bustling percussion, rolling riffs, and ethereal harmonies that transport you to Neal’s nostalgic state of mind. She sings, “I had a dream / You told me not to give it up / We were sixteen / And waiting for our wings to grow in.” The music video for the single captures two best friends exploring together through the lens of a vintage camcorder. “Emily” is touching and powerful time capsule of girlhood through the years that honors how our friendships influence the people we become.
Halley Neal has run an impressive live circuit. She’s performed at festivals among the likes of the Kerrville Folk Festival, Rocky Mountain Folks Festival, and the Telluride Bluegrass Festival as well as alongside the iconic Sara Bareilles.
