Hailey Picardi releases moving debut single, “car crash”

Date:

Her songs are sincere, vulnerable, and powerful, speaking to those who have been where Hailey Picardi has been or have felt what she has felt. Across social media platforms, the young singer-songwriter has captivated an audience of over 720K with her covers, originals, and live renditions. She helps others feel less alone, as her music offers comfort, clarity, and space to heal. Her debut single already has 15K pre-saves, showing that fans are just as eager to connect as Hailey is to share.

On “car crash,” Hailey finds a friend headed in the wrong direction in life. Throughout the acoustic guitar-driven track, she makes a lot of driving and road references, observing how she is “in the rearview mirror” and comparing this friend to “a deer in the headlights.” All the while, her tone remains lonely and full of premature grief, as she knows “how this ends but I can’t stop it from unfolding.” In the end, she figures, “Darling, I would warn you / But don’t know if it’s worth trying / I know the stereo is blasting / Oh, you’ll never hear the sirens.”

About “car crash,” Hailey shares,

“I wrote ‘car crash’ to capture the painfully helpless nature of watching another girl fall into the same trap that debilitated me. It felt like reliving it all over again, only this time, I was entirely paralyzed. All I could do was cross my fingers and hope she would be as lucky as I was to make it out alive.”
