Indonesian pop trio Grrrl Gang unleashed their latest single “Spunky!”, as part of their upcoming debut album to be released on September 22. The album’s title track is a rebellious anthem packed with wild self confidence.
“Spunky!” is relentless and fast paced, full of this unhinged punk spirit that grabs hold of the listener immediately. The simplicity of the melody allows for the raunchy lyrics to take center stage, and the audience is hit by an unapologetic tale of bravado and young rebellion that everyone can connect with. Singer, Angeeta Sentana, describes how the song comes from experiencing a manic episode: “I feel like I’m on top of the world, untouchable. I do things without thinking, always chasing after that feeling of instant gratification. I feel extra confident in myself—to a point of grandiose thinking—and that I could do anything”.
