Gina Alice is a total “Boss” on new single

Date:

The ultimate triple-threat is someone who can sing, dance, and act. But in today’s world, triple-threats can be eclipsed by those who are quadruple threats or quintuple threats. It’s one thing to sing, dance, and act, but can they dabble in modeling, write and play music, dominate social media…? The more hats you are able to wear and wear well, the more you stand out, and this is the case with Gina Alice.

Gina Alice sets the bar high. The German-Korean pianist-vocalist-songwriter grew up studying classical music and has performed with classical orchestras, studied under distinguished mentors, and graced prestigious stages like the Hollywood Bowl, Radio City Music Hall, Carnegie Hall, and Royal Albert Hall. In 2021, she released her debut classical album, Wonderworld, a sprawling 28-track project with beautiful yet timeless music. Last year, she collaborated with her husband, iconic pianist Lang Lang, on his latest album, Saint-Saëns. She also dropped her Dreamcatcher EP last year, which flexed her unique pop and R&B skills.

Outside of music, Gina has a strong global presence. Her reality show, Gina’s Motel, has averaged an audience of 300M per week across China, making her a recognizable force in the media world. She has also been featured in the pages of Vogue, Elle, and Harper’s Bazaar, so she knows how to make a fashionable impression. Additionally, Gina has partnered with brands like Dior, De Beers, and Guerlain, leaning into her modelling tendencies.

You can say that Gina is a total “Boss,” which is what her new single is all about. On the classical meets pop meets R&B track, she mixes illustrious piano with R&B beats and pop vocals, crafting a unique, powerful mood. She also sings in English and in Chinese, but either way, listeners will understand that she is a threat. Menacingly, she sings, “If you see it, then you’ll want it / And you better take it fast / Got a chrome heart, baby / And you’ll never get a back.” But ultimately, she is a “B-O-S-S,” as she sings in the choruses, and you’d do well to believe her.

“Boss” is out now via Republic Records. You can listen to it here.
