Garvie’s latest retro-gaming style single “Boring” is anything but boring

Date:

Garvie - "Boring"

Indie-pop artist Garvie began releasing music in 2021, having previously spent much of his time writing music for other artists and exploring the vibrant London music scene. His latest release in 2024, the high-energy track, “Boring,” candidly explores the relatable concern of being considered boring sometimes.

“There’s always that person at a party that you don’t want to get stuck chatting to, and sometimes think it might be me,” Garvie said. “I was always told that if you’re bored, then you’re boring – so when you’re telling a dull story, you’re bringing everyone else down too. It’s almost infectious, which is the idea that birthed a lot of these lyrics.”

Despite its title, “Boring” is anything but. The song skillfully blends indie-pop and a retro gaming style sound with a hint of rock. The song features a chromatic guitar riff influenced by artists such as Elastica and The Hives. Garvie says “Boring” draws on a diverse range of genre influences. Still, it’s a mix of Gameboy-style synths and vibrant magnetism entices listeners to look no further for a unique but irreverent sound.
