From Ashes To New are stepping into a new chapter. The Lancaster, PA, band will release their next album, Reflections, on April 17 via Better Noise Music. It’s bound to be a record that finds them sharpening their signature mix of alt-metal, rap-rock edge, and emotional urgency while aiming for an even broader reach.
The rollout begins with “Villain,” a track that flips the usual narrative. Instead of telling the story from the point of view of someone trapped in a toxic relationship, vocalist Matt Brandyberry steps into the mind of the person who is the chaos. The song explores the pull between desire and consequence, that moment when instinct wins and logic fades. It’s a perspective shift that signals the band’s willingness to push their storytelling as much as their sound.
“Villain” joins earlier releases “New Disease” and “Drag Me,” offering a preview of the album’s 12-track scope. The project arrives after a major creative reset. In late 2023, the band completed demos for 16 songs intended for their fifth album, only to scrap almost all of them. Keeping just 2 tracks, they started over; a move that went against their usual process but ultimately gave them clarity and renewed direction. The goal was simple: build something true to their core while expanding the sonic landscape.
That momentum follows the success of 2023’s BLACKOUT, which hit #1 on multiple iTunes and Spotify rock and metal charts worldwide and helped cement the band’s global reach. With billions of streams and tours alongside acts like Motionless In White, Asking Alexandria, and Fit For A King, From Ashes To New have already proven their staying power. Reflections aims to raise that bar.
Brandyberry summed up the mission behind the record: take what the band already does well and push it further.
