Ferris Pier teams up with Rhys Lewis for “Dancing When I Die”

Date:

American songwriter Ferris Pier is a dance pop artist known for collaborating with a plethora of different vocalists from around the world. This time, he enlists the help of the London-based pop star Rhys Lewis for the punchy new single.

“Dancing When I Die” is a track full of energy; it’s upbeat without a hint of melancholy. It is incredibly groovy, blending the fresh sounds of synths, keys, and electronic drums with the classic sounds of saxophone and a funky bass line. While not necessarily nostalgic, “Dancing When I Die” does mention quite a few classic artists which inspire Ferris Pier including Huey Lewis and the News, Whitney Houston, Prince, Madonna, Talking Heads, and Marvin Gaye.

Rhys Lewis brings range and a saturated sing-along voice to the grandiose production. The line that sticks out is the refrain, which mirrors the title of the track, “I wanna be dancing when I die.” Fit with a steady kick beat and a bounciness that doesn’t let up, “Dancing When I Die” could easily be a radio hit, inspiring visuals of ballrooms of people cutting loose.
