Those who have been following Etham lately have listened as he has tried to heal from heartbreak. It started at the end of last year, when the UK-based singer-songwriter released “There For You.” He then followed up the single with “Now That You’re Gone,” “Still Can’t Move On,” and most recently, “Just Anyone.” These singles all tell a story just from their titles alone, but they share a bigger role on Everything & Nothing. On this new EP, Etham expresses what it is like to find and lose love, and each song represents a different aspect of this narrative.
The project features lead single “Feel Like This,” a collaborative pop ballad with rising artist Anna Clendening. Throughout the track, the two dote on a love that is all theirs. It mixes pop-driven melodies with acoustic guitar strumming, reflecting the peace and the good vibes found in the relationship. With his soulful vocals, Etham sings, “If I didn’t know you / I’d always want to” and “If I ever find a perfect love / I’d wonder if it would feel like this.” Meanwhile, Anna brings a bit of sweetness with, “My expectations were so high / The perfect girl, the perfect guy / I’m glad to know you gave it time.” Together, they have something special that can’t be replicated.
About working on “Feel Like This,” Anna explains,
“When Etham asked me to be part of ‘Feel Like This,’ I connected with it right away. The lyrics hit that rare kind of love—the kind that feels meant to be, almost like a dream. There was something so honest and vulnerable in the lyrics, and poetic. Singing it felt really personal, like I was telling a story we all want to live one day. I’m so grateful to be part of this one.”
Elsewhere on the EP are the four previously released singles, which convey more downhearted vibes. With these songs, Etham wishes for a love that was heard on “Feel Like This.” From one track to another, he touches on feelings of guilt, desperation, and confusion, as if going through the stages of grief. When we get to the other new track, “Missing,” he taps into a bit of acceptance. Over the warm acoustic guitar hues, Etham shares how he is adjusting to loneliness. His delivery is charming, even though the lyrics are doleful. Still, with the easy-going accompaniment, listeners can assume that Etham will be alright.
