In Emma Harner‘s new single, “False Alarm,” we get a glimpse into her mind, and admire the peace of an honest folk song. The Nebraksa-born singer has been on the rise on socials as she posts earnest covers that feature her perfect voice.

Lyrically, the song is candid and artistic, featuring strong storytelling and word choice. Emma views the song as an “ethereal tune about homesickness and starting over.” As difficult as it is to start anew, Harner brightens the feeling of change with her honesty, soothing voice, and intricate guitar skills.

The song has a strong body, rooted by the bass chords. And Emma’s voice resounds like a warm buttery croissant, savory and feathery. It’s the perfect song for a calm walk in the park, for looking out the window as the world passes by.

Produced by Philip Etherington, “False Alarm” explores change, growth, and mindfulness. Emma said on her Substack:

“Being home and finally having a break from the city, I realized exactly how much the noise, smells, sights, and sounds were changing my quality of life. The song that came out of me was retroactive, describing feeling homesick for the country while being in the city, even though I hadn’t realized I felt like that at the time.”

You can stream “False Alarm” on all platforms, out now.
