Whether or not you speak French, Elijah Cruise—an artist who ditches fancy studios to create and produce music in the comfort of his own bedroom—has released “Chérie,” which translates to “sweetheart,” for anyone who loves a catchy indie rock/electronic love song. Elijah’s popular single, “Poem of a Killer” (released in 2022), a collaboration with WE ARE FURY, hit two million streams and earned him a feature on BBC Radio 1. Building on that success, Elijah has continued to expand his discography with singles and is set to begin a new chapter upon the release of his EP The Door (expected summer 2025), followed by a US/UK tour.
Elijah incorporates elements of the alt-rock scene many know and love into “Chérie,” embracing the alternative energy of the Arctic Monkeys and the sly moodiness of The Neighbourhood. “Chérie” might even catch the attention of Chappell Roan fans with the line “She gets so turnt up to Chappell Roan,” making this song feel like a package deal.
