Eddie Benjamin is a shining star in the music industry. He does it all — song writing, producing, singing etc. He’s one of those artists that should be on top of the charts. He’s currently on tour as the opening act for Shawn Mendes, one of his closest friends and collaborators. The two have teamed up on “Home,” a track that explores the complexities of love and letting go. The acoustic-driven moment plays right into their strengths.
The tone for a love that is a place of return rather than an escape is established by Benjamin’s verse: “I wanna fall into your collar / It makes the world a little smaller / I like to feel it for a moment, yeah / But can we leave the door cracked open?” Mendes’ verse — “I have this reoccurring dream / You build a life with someone else / I swear, I want you to be happy / Hell, I want that for myself” — acknowledges that love isn’t always about holding on, but about wishing someone well even if their happiness exists beyond your embrace.
