e.l.f. Cosmetics and Liquid Death return with new limited-edition “Lip Embalms”

Date:

Following the release of their viral Corpse Paint collection in 2024, e.l.f. Cosmetics and Liquid Death are collaborating once again for a limited-edition line of “Lip Embalms.” The launch sees the return of Glothar, the death metal vocalist who was first introduced in the campaign for the Corpse Paint makeup kit, which famously sold out in just 45 minutes.

In the Lip Embalms campaign, we see Glothar return to the stage once more to deliver a comical musical number all about the benefits of hydrating your lips — with a surprise twist ending.

For their sophomore collab, e.l.f. Cosmetics and Liquid Death have created six new lip balms inspired by Liquid Death flavors: Mountain Water, Severed Lime, Killer Cola, Doctor Death, Rest in Peach and Sweet Reaper. Each lip balm comes in a mini replica of a Liquid Death-inspired can, and is infused with healing ingredients like goji berry, shea butter and hyaluronic acid.

The e.l.f. x Liquid Death Lip Embalms will be available to purchase exclusively on elfcosmetics.com and TikTok Shop on Wednesday, January 14. Products will be sold for $8 each.

While seemingly two completely opposite brands — one being a feminine cosmetics brand, the other being a heavy metal-inspired drink company — e.l.f. and Liquid Death banding together once more brings forward the best things about each of their identities, resulting in a project that’s rebellious, fun and one-of-a-kind.

“Normalize the bizarre. [Liquid Death creative director] Andy Pearson said those words to me when we created ‘Corpse Paint’ together,” Kory Marchisotto, Chief Marketing Officer of e.l.f. Beauty, says. “Creating with the team at Liquid Death extended the limits of our imagination. And we’ve been dreaming together ever since. This collaboration isn’t new, it is a continuation of what the people have been clamoring for at the intersection of our two brands — bold, bizarre and bonkers.”

Dan Murphy, Senior Vice President of Marketing at Liquid Death, adds, “Our original e.l.f. collab showed how powerful it can be when two brands with strong points of view and passionate fans create something completely unexpected. Sequels can be tough because you need to mix the familiar with the unexpected. This campaign certainly has plenty of both.”

While e.l.f. cosmetics has been the leading name in affordable yet highly-effective makeup products, Liquid Death is a drink that has become synonymous with the rock scene, utilizing humor, bold aesthetics and intense imagery to create a beverage that is now considered a concert staple. If you don’t have them stocked in your fridge, you’ll easily find them in the hands of attendees at rock concerts, dive bars, and punk festivals across the country.
