Dylan Davidson is tapping into something deeply personal on his latest single, “Color You In.”
More than two months after the release of his pop track “Escape Artist,” Davidson shared his latest track on Friday, April 10, a deeply personal guitar ballad which explores what it means to stand beside someone as they go through the hardest, darkest parts of their life — a theme that hits especially close to home for Davidson.
“This one is for all of the people [who] are struggling to see the light in the dark moments,” Davidson wrote in an April 10 social post. “There will always be someone who would love to sit by your side. There will always be someone who would love to color you in.”
His mother has been battling cancer for over a decade, and in a separate post shared on Thursday, April 9, ahead of the single’s release, he said that her condition has reached a point where “we can’t do any more.”
“We’re just going to be at home with her and sit with her and have strength and have faith,” Davidson said in the post. “But I’m not gonna push back the release.”
In the track, Davidson sings, “Let me color you in / And do it in pen / So it never fades like the ink on your skin.”
