An energetic and refreshing track dedicated to those who root us in life, Seafret return with their long-anticipated single, “Wait”. After months in the studio, the duo talks about the duality of being an artist on the road:
“The reality of being a musician is a two faced coin. On one side you have lots of incredible experiences and get to see places you could never have dreamt of going. The other is that it takes you away from everyone and everything you love and call home.”
The song begins with a bright chord progression, fingerpicking strings and breathy humming. The first verse repeats “I run to you,” immediately establishing the other person as a safe haven. The song continues describing these situations and feelings, culminating in a folksy and percussive chorus. “I said I’d be there / Say you’ll be there,” the hook goes. The instrumental fades as the bridge details going through life’s highs and lows, the desire to not do so alone, but not finding the right words to ask. What better way to put those feelings into a song? Seafret goes on to say, “This song is about finding those people, that place and praying they can hold strong until you return.”
