The solo project of S. Holden Jaffe — Del Water Gap — announced his third studio album, Chasing The Chimera, will arrive on streaming platforms on Nov. 7.
The indie-pop artist shared the announcement on social media last week, giving his fanbase some insight into what the new project entails: “[T]his is where I’ve been the last year & it’s been healing my cynical heart and I hope you’ll find a place for these songs.”
The album’s lead single, “How To Live,” was Del Water Gap’s first release of 2025, and the track has since topped music charts, including SiriusXM’s alternative charts.
Del Water Gap released the opening track “Marigolds,” a song that explores the existential feeling that came with the chaos of the wildfires in Los Angeles, Calif., at the start of 2025.
On social media, the New York native shared, “this song is about regret & apology as an obsessional mantra. I wrote this right after the LA fires — a night I had with someone I was very close with — hiding out together- we got stoned and made dinner & started talking about the absurdity of getting older & you could see the hills burning in the distance from doorway off the kitchen —the dissonance between the world inside and the chaos out there. nostalgic hangover — everything feels too late and too early all at once”

The solo project’s hit 2020 single “Ode to a Conversation Stuck in Your Throat” gained critical acclaim and earned him a RIAA gold certification in 2024.
