Darren Kiely delivers a night of raw emotion and hope at the Bijou Theatre

Date:

“There’s a black hole in this town, I like the way it draws me close and drags me down…”

Last week at the historic Bijou Theatre, Darren Kiely transformed a simple stage into a retreat away. The evening began with the enchanting Sydney Ross Mitchell, whose opening set felt like a secret shared among friends.

As Darren Kiely took the stage, he played the opening chords of “Ella”. He continued with songs like “Mom & Dad” and “Weight” performing with candid humor and heartfelt words which bridged the gap between performer and audience.

He spoke about “Late Texts,” those messages we send in the quiet hours when we feel most alone, and the ache of words we wish we could take back (or wish we’d said sooner).  As the final notes of “Sunrise” drifted through the room, Darren left us with a promise wrapped in hope: “I’m waiting on a sunrise… Something’s gotta break, something’s gotta give. I hope it ain’t my heart, I hope it ain’t my will.” After the show, Darren met fans at his merch table, offering autographs, photos, and memories that will linger long after the lights dimmed.
