d4vd has released a new alt-pop track, “Locked & Loaded,” as Fortnite’s first official anthem. The song will serve as the soundtrack to the 2025 Fortnite Global Championship, where top players compete for a prize of over 2 million dollars.
The singer-songwriter started sharing original music back in 2021 on his Youtube channel as a way to avoid copyright strikes on the Fortnite montage videos he created at the time. Just one year later, his independently released song “Romantic Homicide” went viral on TikTok, leading to his signing to Darkroom/Interscope Records. Since then, he has put out two EPs, Petals to Thorns and The Lost Petals, and his 2025 debut album, Withered.
Aside from being a historic collaboration, d4vd explained why the Fortnite partnership is such an important personal achievement:
“Fortnite has been such a big part of my life and it’s what led me to make music in the first place. Being able to create the official anthem for Fortnite feels like a true full-circle moment. Fortnite gave me a space to be creative and connect with people all over the world, and that same energy is what I wanted to put into this track. It’s more than a song — it’s me giving back to something that’s shaped my story as an artist. And even now, playing Fortnite is still my true passion.”
