Cynthia Erivo will give us a little something extra with ‘Simply More’ this November

Date:

The world has been captivated, enchanted, and blown-away by Cynthia Erivo in the past year alone. Her portrayal of Elphaba in the film adaptation of Wicked last year earned her Golden Globe, SAG, Critics’ Choice, NAACP, BAFTA, and Academy Award nominations, and there is no doubt that she will receive more when part two of the movie comes out later this year. The English singer, songwriter, and actress is an Emmy, Grammy, and Tony award-winning actress, however, making her just one Oscar away from achieving that prestigious EGOT status. Just last month, Erivo released her highly anticipated sophomore album, I Forgive You, in which she presents herself as Cynthia Erivo—the person—instead of Cythia Erivo—the highly-noted public figure. It was a very inspirational project, intended to encourage others to embrace their truest selves.

In November, Erivo will release Simply More: A Book for Anyone Who Has Been Told They’re Too Much. Much like I Forgive You, this book also has the potential to inspire, as Erivo shares how her experience of being “too much” made her an icon. Throughout, she elaborates on her triumphs and setbacks both on and offstage, and the way she used those moments to propel her forward. The stories she tells expand on all she has learned while touching on the importance of never giving up.

It is also important to lean into the parts of yourself what make you whole. When Erivo first learned the music to Wicked, she had no idea that she would be revisiting these songs for her role as Elphaba nearly ten years later. You just never know what can happen, which is why it is never too late or too early to go after what you want. Erivo reminds readers to be who you are, do what you can, and embrace being “too much” because it might just lead you to your dreams.

Simply More: A Book for Anyone Who Has Been Told They’re Too Much will be released on November 18. You can pre-order a copy here.
