Chris Comstock forms new pop-punk band Underbrook, releases debut single

Date:

Over the years, fans have come to know Chris Comstock as multi-platinum DJ and producer Marshmello. He has been a key collaborator over the years, working with artists like Jonas Brothers, Selena Gomez, and Halsey for chart-topping hits. As is the case with creatives, however, their art can expand beyond the usual, familiar parameters. This is why Chris has brought together creatives from the rock and alternative scenes to form Underbrook. The band features Chris on lead vocals, Hayden Tree (lead singer; Crown the Empire) on bass, Josh Strock (writer and producer; Motionless In White, Fever 333, Machine Gun Kelly) on guitar, Danny Couture (writer and producer; Bring Me The Horizon, 24kGoldn, Marshmello) on guitar, Jake Torrey (writer and producer; Linkin Park, Twenty One Pilots, YUNGBLUD) on guitar, and James Brownstein on drums. Together, their experience and expertise make Underbrook more than a side project—it is a fully formed band with its own sound, its own identity, and its own story to share. Underbrook begin this story with their debut single, “Heads Up.”

A cathartic slice of pop-punk and alt-rock, “Heads Up” blends emotional lyrics, anthemic choruses, and a solid, edgy production. There is almost a garage band feel to the track as we hear Chris deliver distressed vocals against the driving bass and guitar lines. All the while, he touches on a fallout, singing, “That’s what happens when you trust the wrong one / That’s what happens when you trust a friend / Heads up / I should’ve seen this coming / Now you’re all tied up.” You can check it out in the video below, which was directed by Justice Silvera.

About the band, Chris shares,

“This isn’t a nostalgia play—this is who I’ve always been at my core. Underbrook is about channeling the emotions and chaos that shaped me, and giving them a voice through the music that first made me feel understood. ‘Heads Up’ is just the beginning.”
