chasing luma searches for “paradise” on new single

Date:

We first met chasing luma, aka Luke MacDonald, in February when he released his debut single “bittersweet.”  A dazzling display of indie pop, “bittersweet” made for a cool introduction to chasing luma and what we could expect from him as an artist.  About a month later, he followed up the release with “motions,” which further acquainted us with his honest storytelling and crisp songwriting skills.  With each new song, chasing luma is becoming more confident with his abilities and overall sound, which is why his latest release “paradise” is a step outside of his comfort zone.

On “paradise,” chasing luma contemplates how to end a relationship.  Throughout the single, he tells us about a “need to escape” from a relationship he is in, but is not sure if he can handle the confrontation.  Over catchy bass riffs and bright pop melodies, chasing luma sings, “I stay away from every part of town that you roam around” and “Who knew that being alone could be a paradise?” ready for this break to happen naturally.  You can check it out below.

“’paradise’ is an ode to being alone.  By nature, I’m a very non-confrontational person and when writing this song, I thought it would be interesting to write from the perspective of a character who is much better at dealing with the unpleasantries of ending a relationship.  I co-wrote this song with my friend Ryan, and he really helped push me beyond my comfort zone to write such a bold song by my usual standards.  Through this process, I feel like I become more like the character I created, and have since become more motivated to confront the uncomfortable truths in my life.”

“paradise” is available on platforms like Apple Music, SoundCloud, and Spotify.
