Broadside ignore the “Warning Signs” on honest new single

Date:

Broadside has released their new single “Warning Signs,” which is guaranteed to make you want to dance (and maybe do some thinking about your love life). This is the second single that the Richmond, VA-based pop-rock trio released since signing with Thriller Records, following April’s groovy “I Think They Know.”

“Warning Signs” is a relatable anthem infused with Broadside’s classic pop-rock groove. It’s an upbeat track on the surface, with lyrics that deal with the heavy reality of wanting to be with a toxic person, no matter how many things are telling you that you should run.

The track follows this idea of the back-and-forth experienced when you know you have to walk away, but admittedly don’t want to because you love the rush. “The same high that gets me off / Will probably put me in my grave” and “leaving me hopeless and wanting more / I’m not usually like this” showcase the truth behind the emotional turmoil of dealing with a toxic attraction. On the topic of the track’s meaning, vocalist Oliver Baxxter shared,

“Warning Signs is a subtle confession—about craving someone toxic enough to ruin you, yet sweet enough to keep you begging for more.”

Broadside captures the authenticity of ignoring the red flags due to infatuation and choosing to stay, even if it’s not the best course of action. Their ability to capture feelings of self-awareness, contradiction, and honesty makes “Warning Signs” an emotionally compelling and resonating track. It’s about knowing you’re going to get hurt and going for it anyway. The production of the song is almost as addictive as the relationship described in its lyrics.

While the new Broadside album is still in the works, “Warning Signs” is an infectiously honest track that’s sure to keep fans happy as they wait for what’s to come from this new era of the band.
