Since launching his solo career in 2018, Boy in Space (the project of artist Robin Lundbäck) has not shied away from being vulnerable in his music. His latest single “The Man Who Lost it All” is no exception. The song blends together the roots of indie with a slight folk twang, creating a unique sound to set the tone for future projects.
“The Man Who Lost it All” has a strong folk and country influence. It combines yearning harmonies and a beautiful instrumental melody that features violins; the strings in this track specifically stand out, as they’re uncommon for the genre but they help blend in the message of the lyrics.
The lyrics carry a sense of vulnerability against the quicker melody as he sings, allowing the listener into his stream of consciousness about his anxieties. Boy In Space shares more about the song’s message:
“I have a big fear of growing older and looking back on my life with distaste, knowing I could have done better. Being stuck with ‘what-ifs’ at the end of the road. Sometimes that fear really hits me. But it also makes me look ahead and choose things for my future and not only for the moment.”
The new single is a taste of what’s to come with his upcoming debut album set to be released sometime this fall. He is also currently on the road for his Running On Dreams Tour throughout Europe. Tickets to the remaining two dates are available here.
