Bones Shredder, the solo project of multi-instrumentalist Randy Moore, has released “Sky Is Falling,” the cathartic second single from his forthcoming debut record Morbid Little Thing. The full album will arrive on September 19th via Moore’s own Sunken Teeth Records.
“Sky Is Falling” is a heartfelt power-pop effort that celebrates the rarity of having someone who makes the chaos of the world feel distant and features airy harmonies from Dog Party’s Lucy Giles. The track starts with a mellow synth-focused introduction, before bursting into a steady rhythm led by glittery, harmonized guitars. Moore’s soft, resonant vocals put his sincere feelings on open display in a way that the musician knows best. The song’s tender lyricism and soothing production come together to offer an authentic anthem about finding solace in another person. Speaking on “Sky Is Falling,” he shares,
“Initially, I was hesitant to record this song because I was worried it wouldn’t fit with the rest of the record, but then I realized the album could be whatever I wanted. Henry Chadwick’s production and my brother Dylan’s drums turned the song into something special that I love listening back to. The song is about that person whose presence makes you feel safe and understood – I hope everyone finds someone like that.”
Known for his work with Get Married, Spiritworld, Teens In Trouble, Dan Andriano & The Bygones, and Lektron, the San Jose-based guitarist sparked inspiration for his own solo endeavors after bumping fists with Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo.
Morbid Little Thing was recorded over two weeks at District Recording Studio and largely produced by Portland-based artist and previous collaborator Henry Chadwick. Infused with Moore’s love of ‘70s AM pop, punk grit, and horror-inspired imagery, the record also serves as the first release from Sunken Teeth Records. Morbid Little Thing is available for pre-save/pre-order here.
