Alternative rock and grunge artist Sludge Mother, also known as Cami Petyn, brings more angst and heaviness with her band in their latest single titled “BLOOM.” According to Cami in an Instagram caption, this song is the counterpart to the band’s previous track, “I Don’t Want A Job,” which has gained widespread popularity on TikTok.

“While ‘IDWAJ’ came from a place of rage at the state of humanity, ‘bloom’ comes from a place of mourning, caution and rebellion. it feels like a very special song to me and is one of my favorites we have made thus far.”

Written by Petyn, alongside her friends/ collaborators Tony Kim and Travis Miguel, the inspiration for this song is drawn from the classic book 1984 by George Orwell. It’s an anthem for the sense of “hopelessness” for any type of change for the future, a desperate attempt to find some sort of beacon of light and that things will change. However, it may not be seen for a while, or even until all is too late to be salvaged.
