Bearings have made their highly anticipated return with the release of their electric new single “Quick Release.” The Ottawa-formed pop-rock group also shared that their fourth studio album, Comfort Company, will arrive on November 7th via Pure Noise Records. Pre-order/pre-save for the new record is available here.
“Quick Release” is an explosive return from the band that embodies who they are as artists. The track is a loud, fast-paced pop-punk influenced effort that sees Bearings at their boldest and most unapologetic. The group showcases their unwavering dedication towards their music, especially through lyrics like “I don’t need no diamonds / I’ll do all this shit for free” and “Don’t you find it kind of weird? / We’re all looking for a purpose.” With explosive guitar riffs and hard-hitting vocal delivery, Bearings are back and better than ever as they dive headfirst into this exciting new chapter. Speaking on the single, frontman Doug Cousins shares,
“Quick Release for us embodies our time as a band. Years of hard work, years of touring different countries together, all the good and the bad. An acceptance of doing music – or really anything you love – just to do it, because it’s yours and because it’s what you love.”
After taking some time at the end of 2024 to really focus on Comfort Company’s creative direction, Bearings channel the essence of who they are as a band with an unfiltered lens. The record focuses on their raw, genuine chemistry and navigating through life’s obstacles and successes as you grow older. Comfort Company is described as Bearings’ most honest representation to date. Cousins expands on the album’s creative process, sharing,
“Comfort Company is for us the record that feels like coming back home. Some songs we wrote at a cottage together, others came from a basement. They all started somewhere honest and ended up back at the studio where we did our first album in the East End of Toronto. This album was working on music all day, walking to the beer store, then heading back to the windowless studio to relax before reading Kurt Vonnegut and eventually falling asleep on an air mattress. As we worked out what we wanted it to sound like we found ourselves wanting to make music that felt natural to us, something that we knew we’d connect with and be able to spill out on stage when the time came to perform it.”
Bearings are set to join As It Is as direct support for their upcoming U.S. tour dates, which is set to kick off in Boston on the same day Comfort Company releases. The band will also be embarking on their own string of headlining dates shortly after with support from House & Home and Second Harbour.
