Audra McLaughlin Wears her Heart on her Sleeve with New Single “Sad song and a Cowboy”

Date:

Audra McLaughlin is a Nashville based country artist with a longstanding history as a rising force in her genre. Known for her impressive run on NBC’s The Voice where she secured her place in the finals under the mentorship of coach Blake Shelton, McLaughlin’s voice continues to captivate America. Her latest single “Sad song and a Cowboy” is a dazed reverie that relives a rocky relationship that vanishes into the dust.

Over breezy cascades of acoustic guitars, rooted percussion that beats steady like a heart, and a vocal that defies the limits of possibility, “Sad song and a Cowboy” will have you under it’s hazy spell. McLaughlin sings, “He’s gone like a tumbleweed in Texas wind/ A John Wayne disappearing into the sun.” Paired with a poignant music video of McLaughlin’s cowboy drifting through memories of shopping a thrift store, corralling horses in a pen, and gazing into the camera, “Sad song and a Cowboy” feels all too real. The collective experience of lonesome, romantic visuals over bittersweet sonics that get stuck on the past makes “Sad song and a Cowboy” an ode to heartbreak.
