Texas-based singer-songwriter Alissa Feudo has just released her newest single “Cliché Habit”. The calming synths and acoustics immediately draw you in, but the pop sound that overtakes the song is unexpected. The catchy rhythm mixed with her heartfelt and confessional lyrics, however, provides the perfect balance.
The song opens with a much slower acoustic soundscape, but as soon as the lyrics pick up, so does the pop rhythm. It seems like the perfect song to be played at the climax of a teenage romance movie, with the lyrics being even more fitting.
Alissa has a background in psychology, holding a degree in the subject, and she says it informs how she approaches her writing. That becomes very apparent in how she dissects emotions in this new single with lyrics like “When I come undone, it’s you I’m calling home / Like light after the storm / You’re a steady refrain.”
This cliché love song brings out all the right emotions, and it just gives us a taste of what’s to come. Alissa plans to release her debut album later this year.
