To celebrate his birthday, rising star Alexander Stewart has given his fans a special gift. The Canadian singer-songwriter has just announced that he’ll be releasing his highly anticipated album, What If?, on October 24th. This announcement comes shortly after the release of his brand new single “Scared of Myself,” an intimate look into his personal journey which has shaped his new chapter of music.
In a post shared on Instagram, Stewart wrote, “it felt fitting to announce the album and drop ‘scared of myself’ all on my birthday, as writing this album is truly about my experience growing up the last 2 years and the difficulties i faced.”
The star further opened up about his struggles over the past year, where he was lacking a sense of clarity and was stuck in a place of uncertainty:
“i spent so much of last year second guessing my life, my career, relationships, and self worth. i was constantly asking myself what if nothing works out the way i thought it would…? but as i continued writing this album i started changing my mindset and sitting with the discomfort and realized, what if everything is working out exactly as it’s supposed to?”
The album What If? features 12 tracks co-written by Stewart, including singles “Blame on You” and “Here Again,” which have already attracted over three million streams.
This new chapter follows Stewart’s 2024 debut album Bleeding Heart, which earned him some Juno Award nominations. He gained huge success with tracks “I Wish You Cheated” and “His Problem Instead,” both going viral on TikTok and charting on Billboard Canadian Hot 100.
By asking What If?, Stewart invites listeners to reflect on their own journeys. He turns self-doubt into self-discovery, offering an album that is empowering on doubt, growth, and healing. The answer begins with “Scared of Myself” and will be explored fully when What If? drops on October 24th.
