Alexa Kate reflects on growing up in new emotional ballad “Forever”

Date:

New York native Alexa Kate has released “Forever,” an introspective ballad with acoustic instrumentation reminiscent of works by Lizzy McAlpine and Phoebe Bridgers. It serves as the new single off the deluxe version of her EP, Over Nostalgic

In “Forever,” Kate is at her most vulnerable yet, with a delicate yet emotional vocal delivery that makes the track feel deeply intimate. In an Instagram post, she opened up about the meaning behind the song, saying, “I hope it feels like a late night conversation with yourself, filled with nostalgia (of course) & the ache & joy of growing up.”

Lyrically, the singer-songwriter reflects on how time has changed everything around her and how uncertain the future seems. In the verses, she sings, “Maybe I’m just in too deep / And my mind, it never sleeps / Drawing maps to somewhere I can’t see / I know I’ll be fine somehow / But I’m still running out of time.”
