Business Beats: Charlotte Sands x CS Records

Date:

PC: Benji Allen

Through infectious, pop-inspired hooks and vulnerable songwriting, Charlotte Sands is a fierce trailblazer in the modern pop-punk scene. Known for her insanely catchy alt-rock ragers, striking blue hair, and fearless self-expression, Sands has spent the last several years carving out her space in the rock world, sharing the stage with the likes of YUNGBLUD and My Chemical Romance and working with MisterWives, Point North, Taylor Acorn, and more.

“Every choice and every decision I make comes from gut instinct and what feels right for the music and listeners,” Sands says.

THE BUSINESS
According to Sands, remaining an independent artist is one of the things she is most proud of as a musician. Now able to release what she wants when she wants to, Sands is able to put complete time, energy, and devotion into the projects that excite her the most.

I think the pros [of having my own label] are the freedom to make choices that benefit the art and that make me feel fulfilled without having to be on anyone else’s schedule or timeline. I can do what feels right to me, obviously with the help and insight from other team members, but there isn’t any pressure to make decisions or change creative choices based on other people’s opinions.”

THE BEATS
Following the release of her debut LP can we start over? in 2024, Sands embarked on a massive tour in support of the album and landed a co-headlining slot on Idobi Radio’s Summer School Tour in 2025. Through visceral tracks like “use me” and “spite,” Sands balanced the charisma of pop music with the depth of alt-rock to add a unique twist to her undying sonic edge.

Now, Sands is gearing up for the release of her highly anticipated sophomore album Satellite, out March 6 through CS Records. Adopting a grittier sound compared to can we start over?, Sands is more unapologetically herself than ever before on Satellite.

“I think this project is a reflection of every part of my personality and all of my creative influences,” Sands says of her upcoming record. “It meshes all the different types of music I grew up listening to with all the music I’m currently inspired by. I feel like it is a mirror of my experiences over the last two years and the growth I’ve felt as a person, really stepping into myself. With this album, I tried to experiment more with my vocal performance and lean into different production elements that I probably wouldn’t have felt so confident about with the previous projects.”
