On Friday, August 22, Charlotte’s Skyla Credit Union Amphitheatre played host to a night fans won’t with Wilder Woods. That golden hour glow became the perfect backdrop for Bear Rinehart’s soulful entrance.
As the crowd settled in for the night, the evening opened with “Time On My Hands.” Following “Mary, You’re Wrong,” drawing cheers from fans before moving into “Wild Fire.” Just as the night hit its stride, he surprised Charlotte with a soulful rendition of “Mary Jane’s Last Dance,” a Tom Petty classic that carried both reverence and Wilder Woods’ own flair.
During “Be Yourself,” the crowd became one voice, all echoing the song’s lyrics back to Rinehart. “Devil In My Eyes,” darkened the mood with its rich, bluesy grit. However, the night’s most memorable moment was saved for last: “Born Again.” Performed with The Red Clay Strays lead singer Brandon Coleman, and destined for a future Needtobreathe release, the song was a powerhouse finale.
With the sun setting behind them and the night rising to meet their sound, Wilder Woods gave Charlotte a performance that was intimate yet explosive.
