Sophie Allison, better known as Soccer Mommy, delivered a set that struck a delicate balance between indie rock grit and diary-entry vulnerability. The Madison, a charmingly worn-in theater just across the river from Cincinnati, proved to be the perfect venue for the night.
Dummy kicked the night off and as the house lights dimmed, Dummy took their place. The venue’s intimate vibe quickly turned into an immersive experience. Songs like “”Soonish… and “Godspin” drew heavy comparisons to bands like Beach House and Stereolab but with a sharper edge.
Soccer Mommy‘s setlist leaned heavily on Evergreen era with playing songs “M” and “Lost”. The newer tracks felt like natural extensions of her past work, and yet, they showcased a sense of emotional depth and sonic exploration that was fresh and expansive.
