Atlanta showed up in full force Sunday night, and State Farm Arena felt like it was buzzing before a single note was played. This lineup had “can’t miss” written all over it, and it delivered big time with Black Stone Cherry, Bush, and Shinedown delivering the goods.
Black Stone Cherry kicked things off right around 7. Atlanta was a special treat, being as this was the only stop on this tour the guys would be joining in on. Their set was short but packed with that gritty, Southern rock punch they’re known for. You could feel the floor rumbling with riffs, and the crowd wasted no time getting loud. Black Stone Cherry is one of those bands that don’t need a lot of flash on stage to impress, they just plug in and let the music and energy they bring speak for itself.
Bush came out, and man, Gavin Rossdale still knows how to own a stage. The whole place sang “Glycerine” with him like it was 1996 all over again as he dedicated the song to recently deceased Brent Hinds, and “Machinehead” had everyone bouncing like the floor itself was shaking. Gavin’s got this way of pulling the crowd in without even trying, but the moment that sent the night into overdrive was when he suddenly bolted off the stage and straight into the crowd.
At first, people were stunned like, wait, is he really doing this? He didn’t just stick to the front rows either. Gavin ran through the packed, singing right in people’s faces, grabbing hands, throwing out smiles that made you feel like he was singing directly to you and giving hugs to every fan that offered. Fans absolutely lost it, scrambling for a high-five or just to be in his path. Security was hustling behind him, trying to keep up, but you could tell they were smiling too because the whole arena was buzzing with this wild, unpredictable energy.
Everywhere Gavin went, the crowd around him erupted. People who’d been sitting jumped to their feet, phones shot up in the air, and there were moments where you could barely hear his voice over the roar of thousands screaming the words right back at him. By the time he made it back to the stage, the energy in the building wasn’t just high it was on another level entirely. Fans will be posting the videos on socials for days to come!
Bush has still got that raw grunge grit in their sound, but moments like that proved they’ve polished it into something timeless. It wasn’t just nostalgia, it was alive, electric, and impossible to forget. Bush ended with “Comedown”, and man the crowd did not want to come down off of the cloud we were all riding high on.
By the time Shinedown hit at 9, the place felt like a powder keg ready to blow. The stage setup looked wild, with lasers, pyro, moving lights everywhere it really did feel like they built a giant nightclub inside the arena as the y-shaped catwalk led into the crowd. They kicked it off with “Dance, Kid, Dance,” and from then on it was one high-energy punch after another. “Sound of Madness,” “Devil,” “Enemies,” “Monsters”, they kept the hits coming.
One of the best moments? Their cover of “Simple Man.” Thousands of voices singing every word together, it gave you chills and would leave every member of Lynard Skynard proud. And when they closed with “Second Chance,” you could tell nobody in that building wanted the night to end.
The trio of bands didn’t just give us another rock show, they delivered one of those nights where three bands came in, gave everything they had, and left Atlanta buzzing into the next day. Shinedown proved again why they’re one of the best live bands around and kings of the arena show, Bush reminded everyone why they became legends, and Black Stone Cherry set the tone with pure, unapologetic rock ’n’ roll. It felt like one of those concerts that’ll stick with you for a long time so if you have a chance to catch a later date on this tour, do not miss it.
