Melrose Avenue sells out Prague’s Klub Varšava

Date:

Last night, Nov. 21, Australian pop-metalcore band Melrose Avenue brought their UK/EU headline tour to Prague’s Klub Varšava, selling out the space and filling the basement club to the brim. Rising Swiss alternative rock duo Comastatic joined them as support.

The room was already full by the time Comastatic took the stage. The duo had played an impromptu set at Prague Music Week just a few weeks prior, and fans were excited to have them back so soon. Guitarist Giuliano “Jules” Luongo took the stage first, smiling widely at the crowd before lead singer Mattia Di Paolo joined him.

The duo wasted no time bringing the energy. They strutted across the small stage like they owned it, dynamic in their interactions with each other and with the crowd. We were particularly impressed by Di Paolo’s vocal performance — his transitions between melodic singing, harsh vocals, and even some rapping were smooth and seamless, displaying his talent right out of the gate.

The crowd went wild for fan favorites like “Self Sabotage,” “TOXIC ENERGY,” and “24Seven,” the last of which is a collaboration with Melrose Avenue. While the headliners didn’t join the duo on stage for the performance, it certainly served to hype the crowd up even more for the following set.

By the time Melrose Avenue was up, the room was packed even tighter, if that was possible, and the crowd stretched all the way back to the bar. The band came onstage one at a time, with drummer Jed McIntosh coming first, each additional member drawing even more anticipation from the crowd.

Opening with “Fool and The Beggar” and “Enemy,” Melrose Avenue had fans singing along from the very first note. Guitarist Mitchell Black flashed his wide smile to the audience as vocalist Vlado Saric and guitarist Shawn Mayer traded soft and harsh vocals. Saric’s vocal performance in particular blew us away. He was leaving it all out there on stage, hitting every note and putting rage into every scream even as he danced and jumped around the stage, encouraging the crowd to join in.

The first half of the set consisted mostly of recently released songs, with the crowd going especially wild for “Black Heart” featuring Ekoh. Ekoh, of course, wasn’t there, so Mayer stepped in for his part. Mayer also took it upon himself to hand out water bottles to the crowd during the show — we were, after all, in a crowded basement, and it was getting hot and stuffy.

The set also included a few unreleased songs, much to the audience’s delight, as well as a few treats from 2023 for fans who have been with them since the early days. “Falling Apart” and “Deep End” bookended the halfway point before Black exited the stage and left Saric and Mayer to slow things down with their newest single, “This Is The End.” Saric introduced this softer song with an anecdote about an ex before delivering a heartfelt performance that had the crowd swaying along and raising their phone flashlights, lighting up the room with emotion.

Saric then asked the crowd if they were ready to party as he launched into the unreleased “Body Bag” before announcing it was time to get back to some songs fans already know and love. The heavy-hitting “Reflections” and “Through Hell” followed with a renewed energy that would last the rest of the set. Saric had hinted that “Through Hell” was their last song, and the audience screamed the lyrics with passion and vigor before the band left the stage.

The crowd wasn’t ready to finish the night yet, though, and Melrose Avenue came back for an encore of perhaps their most famous hit, “Suffering.” Fans went absolutely insane, giving their all to sing it right back to the band.

Melrose Avenue’s performance at Prague’s Klub Varšava was certainly one for the books, and it was honestly one of the best shows we’ve seen all year. The band’s musical performance was absolutely flawless, with Mayer’s screams, Black’s energy, and Saric’s passionate vocals each shining in a unique way, with McIntosh holding everything down perfectly.

Melrose Avenue also took care of fans throughout, giving them water, thanking them for being there, encouraging them to get involved, and making jokes whenever the opportunity arose. There was a very clear, intimate sense of love and community in the room that lasted long after the band left the stage.

Melrose Avenue will continue their sold-out UK/EU tour with Comastatic through Nov. 30. These will be their last shows of 2025, with 2026 already shaping up to be a busy year.

They’ll begin their US headlining tour in April 2026 before appearing at several festivals over the summer, including Rock For People in Hradec Králové, Czech Republic. Last night’s show in Prague warmed fans up for their return to CZ at the festival this summer, and we’re definitely looking forward to it.

Tickets to their US headline tour are available here. Tickets to Rock For People are available here.
