Maren Morris brought The Dreamsicle Tour to a sold out Pier 17 in New York City on September 9th, delivering a night packed with heart-to-hearts, high-energy bangers, and pure joy. With the skyline glowing behind her and the crowd singing every word, the evening felt less like a concert and more like a shared moment between old friends.
Dressed in a black, sparkly feathered gown, Morris opened the night with “cry in the car,” a deep cut from her brand-new album D R E A M S I C L E. From the second she stepped on stage, you could feel the energy shift: everyone knew they were in for something special. She kept that momentum going with fan favorites like “80s Mercedes,” “GIRL,” and “people still show up.” Each one landed like a burst of nostalgia, confidence, or comfort—sometimes all three. And just when it felt like the night couldn’t get more personal, Morris shifted gears.
She went on to perform “bed no breakfast,” a cheeky track about wanting your hookup to leave immediately: no morning-after small talk, no eggs, no toast. “Maybe I should give the NYC dating scene a try?” Morris joked to the crowd, earning a loud, knowing cheer in response. It was a funny, lighthearted moment in the set, and judging by the reaction, one that hit a little too close to home for more than a few people in the crowd.
There were a few standout moments for me, but one that really stuck was when the crowd lit up their phone lights during the title track, “dreamsicle.” Morris shared that she wrote the song at 3 a.m. one night last year born out of homesickness and the feeling of wanting to hold on to every fleeting moment. “You’re gonna make me cry!” she exclaims as the crowd starts to light up. It’s one of my favorites on the album, and watching her perform it in front of a sold-out crowd definitely got me a little emotional. But the night had plenty more moments like that waiting to unfold.
Morris surprised the crowd with a cover of Elton John’s “Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters,” which might just be one of my favorite covers she’s ever done. “We have to play this every time we come here,” she said, and as those first notes hit, gasps and cheers rippled through the crowd. It was one of those moments where you could feel the whole room connecting not just to the music, but to the history and heart behind it.
As the night was coming to a close, Morris wrapped things up with a powerful set of her biggest hits, including the record-breaking smash “The Middle,” the emotional “carry me through,” and the fan favorite “The Bones.” The energy in the crowd was electric, with everyone singing along and soaking in every moment. It was the perfect way to end an unforgettable night, leaving fans buzzing and already looking forward to her next show.
By the time the final notes faded, it was clear that Maren Morris had given more than just a concert: she’d created an experience full of raw emotion, infectious energy, and genuine connection. The Dreamsicle Tour at Pier 17 wasn’t just a night of music; it was a reminder of why Morris continues to be one of the most captivating voices in the industry. If this show was any indication, there’s no doubt her star will keep rising—and I, for one, can’t wait to see where she goes next.
