War on Women returned to Atlanta this week, supporting Baroness at The Buckhead Theatre. The hardcore-punk band put on an incredibly high energy performance with candid, in your face lyrics that hold absolutely nothing back.
In tune with their feminist platform, front woman Shawna Potter strongly acknowledged the Native land they were performing on before going full into the set. Most – if not all – of War on Women’s songs are politically influenced, tackling ongoing issues in society (“What if I was 30 or 12? What if I had one drink?/ If the victim is your daughter, does that complicate the blaming?”) with harsh vocals and an unyielding view on equality and dismantling the system. What else is there to love?
