Ally Salort celebrates the imperfections of a relationship on “Messy”

Date:

Starting out as a New Jersey girl who made covers of popular songs, Ally Salort has now established herself as one to look out for in the music scene. Her covers of songs by artists like Billie Eilish and Olivia Rodrigo have picked up hundreds of thousands of views online and have earned her over 1.1M followers on TikTok. Outside of covers, Ally’s originals have the same effect; her latest single, “Deeper Meaning,” was released in June after teasers of it went viral on TikTok. It is now on its way to receiving 1M streams on Spotify – the first of her songs to achieve such a milestone. Ally is now following up the release with “Messy,” which has already received some positive comments from Camilla Cabello.

A tender pop ballad, “Messy” celebrates the imperfections of a relationship. With glistening pop vocals, Ally sings, “Not always easy but we come together every time” and “If we were perfect, I’d be bored out of my mind,” grateful for the drama that lingers between her and this other person. The steady drums and strings only add to the drama, enhancing the composed melodies heard throughout. You can check it out below.

“Messy” was created after a session that Ally had with Duck Blackwell and Sissy Smith. After its conception, things fell into place fairly quickly – so quickly that the song was finished this past July. From there, teasers of the song began to circulate, resonating with millions of viewers online. Safe to say, this single has been anything but “messy” so far.

You can listen to “Messy” on platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, and SoundCloud.
