San Gabriel is the solo synth-pop project of artist James Bookert. Every song is written, performed, recorded, and produced in Austin, Texas. San Gabriel’s new song “Running Out of Time” focuses on trying new things.
“Running Out of Time” is about testing out a new relationship. Through bright synth and steady percussion, San Gabriel considers the risks of starting this new connection. The lyrics seem to sense an inevitable end to this partnership, yet a desire to keep pushing until things no longer work out. Sharing more about the meaning behind “Running Out of Time,” James Bookert comments:
“In short, Running Out of Time is my coming to realize that life is short, and that I want to fill my time with things that fulfill me as a person.”
