Samia confesses her fear of destruction and inescapability in new single, “Carousel”

Date:

Samia—a Minneapolis-based singer-songwriter—shares new single “Carousel” ahead of her third album, Bloodless, out this Friday, April 25. Joining the previously released singles, “Bovine Excision,” “Lizard,” “Hole in a Frame,” and “Pants,” the consuming drain of self-reflection continues to be explored from multiple angles—setting the stage for more confessions and wonders to perform on the album.

The exploratory, unpredictable nature of “Carousel” examines the mystifying, complex curse that fuels you with uncontrolled destruction—leaving you with nothing but the choice to invite this never-ending, haunting carousel ride into your life. Samia doesn’t back away from painting the picture in its entirety. She seamlessly pairs metaphors that detail the unexplainable fine line of purposeful and inescapable interference with a transformative, explosive electric guitar and drum-heavy outro to confront this curse head on.

Alongside this single, Samia worked with Sarah Ritter to bring the its dark, haunting edge to life in a plot-twist music video. Self-sabotage and fear always seem to find a way to seep into the cracks of your vulnerable side—especially when you least expect it. The choice to run, hide or ultimately build up the strength to fight it lies in your own hands, but the outcome of your decision remains a mystery.
