Maria Ellis delivers a breezy, feel-good summer anthem, “The Movies”

Date:

Maria Ellis delivers a breezy, feel-good summer anthem with her latest single, “The Movies” (feat. Riott). The emerging singer-songwriter and producer from New York captures a sound that is fresh and familiar — reminiscent of artists like Ariana Grande and Victoria Monét.

The pop/R&B track is the final single off of Ellis’ upcoming debut EP, Ultrabaddie, due out on May 23rd. About the EP, Ellis says:

“This project is a collection of songs that explores different layers of being unapologetic and feeling confident.”

The latest single is self-produced alongside Goons and features dreamy guitar melodies and catchy pop harmonies. Ellis paints a picture of a carefree type of love — a feeling that sticks with you after one listen. Fans will be singing the infectious chorus, “You feel like the movies / Boy you consume me / Can’t fight, can’t fight / You actin’ too right / Oh boy you actin’ like / We could be strangers / Fall in a dangerous place / Cause I need you now,” all summer long as they are cruising with the top down on a sunny day.
