A songwriter, producer and self-made artist in the truest sense, longtime Sarah Kinsley fans are ecstatic to know that her debut album Escaper is set to release on September 6. When she announced her album back in June, Kinsley also announced a massive tour throughout the US, UK, Canada and Europe on the same day. Her music is equal parts refreshing and emotive, and there’s no doubt that Kinsley’s debut full-length release will serve as a definitive body of work in terms of her artistry.

Kinsley first rose in the music scene in 2021, after her single “The King” went viral on TikTok. Her EP of the same name gained significant attention once it was listed as one of NME’s top debut projects of 2021. However, Kinsley is known for extensive musical upbringing which began long before TikTok fame. With a childhood where music was always present, Kinsley became well-versed in classical music before studying music theory at Columbia University.

Now a prolific figure within the independent music industry, Kinsley is just as renowned for her songwriting as she is for producing. After witnessing the drastic underrepresentation of female producers in the music industry, Kinsley has since made herself known for producing all of her own material.

While studying music at Columbia, Kinsley released songs written and produced for class assignments publicly. “Wine-stained Lips” was her first single and was released in 2019. That same year, she put out her debut EP The Fall. Kinsley has since released three more EP’s: The King (2021), Cypress (2022) and Ascension (2023). Now, the famed singer-songwriter will release her debut full-length album this Friday, September 6.

Kinsley’s musicality is many things — grounding yet ethereal, radiant yet melancholy. Praised for her perfect vocals as well as her piano and synth-heavy compositions, Kinsley’s music is a dreamy act of healing. Her debut LP is appropriately titled Escaper, as it is a chance for listeners to escape into another realm while experiencing the heart and soul of Sarah Kinsley in all their glory.
