American songstress Lucy Dacus has come a long way since growing up in Mechanicsville, Virginia. The indie-rock singer + songwriter established Boygenius alongside fellow confessional songwriters Julien Baker and Phoebe Bridgers in 2018. Her third studio album Home Video via Matador, following critically-acclaimed records No Burden and Historian, is soaked with honesty and a raw sense of empowerment. Dacus’s lyricism ranks as some of the best as each song is encompassed with vulnerability.
She speaks, “I don’t necessarily think that I’m supposed to understand the songs just because I made them. I feel like there’s this person who has been in me my whole life, and I’m doing my best to represent them.”
Come fall, Dacus will be bringing this assemblage to the road in just a short few weeks.
Dacus’s tour begins on Friday, July 23rd, in Newport, Rhode Island, and finishes October 26th in New York at Brooklyn Steel. Opening guests Bachelor, Bartees, Shamir, Laura Stevenson, Thao, and Miya Folick will be on select shows.
