On April 25th, 2019, Kevin Abstract, member of the American boyband Brockhampton, came out with his 3rd solo album titled ARIZONA baby. It has been three years since Abstract last released a solo piece, and this album was a great reawakening of his solo identity.
A couple weeks ago, on August 8th to be exact, Abstract teased the song “Big Wheels” on his social media by posting a video of him rapping the unreleased song. He also posted three dates, April 11th, 18th, and 25th, hinting that new music will be released during those three days.
Over the course of the month of April, the Corpus Christi native released the album in smaller portions so that the album is digested by the listener the way he intended it to be. Throughout the album, you can hear vocal features from familiar artists such as Dominic Fike, Ryan Beatty, and Bearface. The entire LP was produced by a fellow Brockhampton member, Romil Hemnani and acclaimed songwriter and arranger, Jack Antonoff.
In relation to the album, Abstract also went back to his hometown of Corpus Christi to walk on a treadmill in front of his childhood home for 10 hours straight. People gathered from all over to watch this inspirational masterpiece unfold. It was live streamed on the Brockhampton YouTube channel, and you can check it out here.
