Georgia-born singer-songwriter Teddy Swims just released his latest single, “Funeral”. The track is the first on the highly-anticipated C24 Mixtape by Bose and NME, dropping July 19. The mixtape features music from breakout artists Artemas, Laufey, Royal Otis, Lola Young, Tehya, and Samara Cyn.
Ahead of the mixtape’s release, Teddy Swims premiered a one-take music video for “Funeral” on the NME YouTube channel, part of the Bose x NME On Tape series.
“Funeral” serves as an update to Swims’ healing journey since releasing his debut album, I’ve Tried Everything But Therapy. About the song, he said:
“‘Funeral’ is fun, upbeat and it’ll make people want to dance, but there’s a layer of sadness underneath that. I love being able to make music that has joy but is heartbreaking at the same time. We’re finally at the point where we’re honing a certain sound. It’s all about this old soul, Motown feel but modernizing that in a way that feels authentic. Songs like ‘Funeral’ just feel right.”
“Funeral” can be accessed on all streaming platforms. Keep an eye out for the C24 Mixtape on July 19, available on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, and SoundCloud.
