Sophia Warren shares emotional song “Stand By” from upcoming EP

Date:

Singer-songwriter Sophia Warren released her latest single “Stand By” on Sept. 25 leading up to her forthcoming EP Bloodstone. Throughout the song, she touches on how it feels to be in a relationship that’s stagnant over a propulsive, eighties-tinged, driving back beat.

On the themes her new song brings up, Warren says:

“You begin to feel on standby, waiting for something to jolt you out of your lifeless relationship. However, the waiting continues and reveals itself to be never-ending. You have to make a choice; even though you and this person have become so attached and enveloped in each other’s lives, it doesn’t make it right to feel and live unloved.”

This heartbreaking realization comes out in her song when she beautifully sings, “It’s killing me yeah / Being on standby” full of hurt. Even though it was for the best, her vocals and creative lyricism capture how bad she feels about ending the relationship when she sings, “I left without a goodbye / I didn’t wanna see you cry.”

“Stand By” is a refreshing indie pop song that has a satisfying beat build-up leading up the chorus amid the haunting melody and promises great things for her EP Bloodstone releasing on Oct. 23. The upcoming EP will be the first in a triple EP-series planned over the next 18 months. So if you’re looking for a new indie pop artist to follow, then look no further than Sophia Warren as she has a lot to offer.
