Recent News: Will release his new single, “Words I’d Use,” featuring Grace Gardner, on March 20.

In the indie pop world, singer-songwriter Ross Newhouse has become known for the intricate, feather-light manner in which he explores heavy subject matter. As he navigates themes like heartbreak, vulnerability, and relationships, Newhouse does so in a way that’s equal parts charming and heartfelt, making him one of independent music’s most personable talents.

Making his musical debut in 2020, the New York-based artist has become synonymous with a lightweight sonic convection. Releasing a steady run of new music upon his inaugural single “Answers,” Newhouse soon released his first EP Suddenly, I Demand Repair in 2021. The following year, he released his debut album Avonlea. Over the years, the singer-songwriter continued to release new material, with his most recent single “Glass/Flows” having arrived earlier this year.

Marking a significant change in sound, Newhouse now stands in the dawn of a new artistic era with the release of “Glass/Flows.” The “Holy Ghost” singer will continue walking down this road with the release of his upcoming single “Words I’d Use,” out this Friday. Featuring indie folk darling Grace Gardner, “Words I’d Use” continues to showcase Newhouse’s new musical direction, opting for a more pop-influenced approach to his signature acoustic sound. Representing a heightened sense of musical maturity and growth from Newhouse, there’s no denying that his latest single releases are a sign of greater things to come.

In a social media post announcing the single’s release, Newhouse describes “Words I’d Use” as, “A song years in the making about the universal wish for a partner to see themselves through your eyes. I love Grace’s songs and their approach to music making, and I believe this collaboration brought out the best in both of our writing.”

Ahead of the release of “Words I’d Use” this Friday, Newhouse will play a show at Cassette in New York alongside Malachi Elijah and A.G. Sully. Buy tickets to the show here.
